It’s launch day here at Wit and Whimsy Paperie, and I am so excited to finally see everything come together!

First, thank you for being here and taking the time to see what W&W is all about. To show our gratitude please take 25% off your first order by using the code “ohyeah” at checkout.

Over the past six months we have (slowly but surely) been working to make my dream of opening a letterpress studio a reality. Although I first fell in love with the idea (and got our first press “The Beast”) back in 2012, the right time to begin this journey didn’t present itself until the beginning of 2015. So, today is when all the hours of research, planning, designing, coding the website, taking photos, uploading products, developing our process, and countless other little details came together!

Between all those endless to-do-items, my de-stresser was playing with my two kiddos (Aly and Zoey):

relax

After 20 minutes hanging out with these two cuties, I was always ready to work!

But really, I couldn’t have gotten to this point without my family, friends and especially my other half Josh! Their words of encouragement and consistent support kept me going and helped bring Wit and Whimsy to fruition.

If there’s one thing I learned through this experience it was, dreaming and striving for better does not mean you can’t be satisfied with what your best is at the present moment. Even when I still had goals for where I wanted my business to go and be, I found focusing on what I have been blessed with thus far brought everything into perspective.

Afterall, this should be FUN, and finally that cheesy quote “ love what you do, do what you love” fits my life. ☺

PROCESS
Creating a fluid process for us behind the scenes, as well as making it easy for you to work with us, was one of the most important goals to reach. So, we invested in a platemaker (best thing ever!!) and film output system for creating all our letterpress plates, instead of outsourcing them. Having control over our letterpress products from start to finish gives us flexibility and self-reliance. Even getting our own Titian Paper Cutter was a big deal around here. I know…you are thinking, a paper cutter is about as exciting as getting a new toaster, but it was like Christmas morning to us!

PRODUCTS
Our products and services will continue to grow and we will be adding more items to our online store each month. Wit and Whimsy also has an Etsy store that will house mostly cards and posters. Besides having ready-made items we offer custom design services for weddings, businesses, and any other project that is in need of a creative intervention! Designing custom wedding invitations is my forte and by my own admission I can be a paper and type nerd so be prepared!

FUTURE PLANS
This is just the start of what I want to offer at W&W. Right now, our location is at our Maryland home (just outside of Washington, DC and northern Virginia) but we are looking to relocate to North Carolina where I want to open a storefront and offer letterpress workshops. We will be sure and keep you updated with any changes!

So, if you haven’t already, take a look around the site! Thanks again for stopping by; Josh and I can’t wait to be a part of your creative endeavors!
